I came across a photo the other day which made me happy and sad at the same time: Thanksgiving 1990.

The photo shows Duke and I taking a nap in the most precarious position. I'm sure our bellies were full of turkey and pie and closing our eyes for a quick rest was too tempting to resist.

I love Duke and think of him often. He was a wonderful grandfather to me, my siblings and cousins. Always willing to indulge us in our crazy adventures and not afraid to let us get messy in the process. 

I hate that my son will never get the chance to meet Duke, but I am glad I have the memories that I can share.
